Hi, I wanted to tell you that I love your app. It is so beautiful, love the add ins like reminders, prompts and breathing. I couldn’t wait to buy the premium version but I want to keep my handwriting. Can you make an option to Journal with our own handwriting and choose to not have it switch to typed words.
– suggested by Virginia via email

Idk if it’s what Virginia wants said, but I really would want a better handwriting support. The benefits of handwriting over typing on keyboards do not have to be demonstrated anymore. So should be fine to have the possibility to handwriting our daily diary but not considered as screenshots ✍️

I wanted to ask exactly for this feature, too! With Apple Pencil on the iPad it would be so cool to just write down everything like in a proper paper journal. And not use just screenshots. When are you planning this?

Hi, just my two cents to have this feature as well. Thank you!

I was really excited about this app but not being able to actually journal, write things down with my iPad and pencil is a deal breaker for me. Stoics of anyone know the power of handwriting. The slowness of it forces you to think deeply.
Is “considering” and upgrade or downgrade from the previous status “planned”?
If not, could you at least optimise the editor window for iPad landscape and horizontal layout, so that writing with Apple Scribble (handwriting to type feature) works smoother?
Currently the editor window where Apple Scribble works is too small and can’t be seen because background and editor background are the same colour.
Handwriting is such a critical part of a journal app. I have been looking for the perfect journal app forever and finally fell in love with stoic and then realized the biggest downfall of the app. Please add this
I also would love to use stoic, but yea lacking handwriting support is keeping me with Apple’s stock journal app. Currently the draw feature doesn’t suffice because it’s just handwriting as an attachment and not actual integration.
Unfortunately, iPad users aren’t getting that much attention with the stoic. devs. Using an iPad, with or without attached Magic Keyboard, with or without the Apple Pencil, using Stage Manager, different window sizes, the stoic devs could easily spot many opportunities to improve the user experience and fix some bugs.
Keeping the handwriting in a beautiful UI is a long sought after feature. But it’s postponed regularly, even if it’s now the 2nd most voted for feature missing.
As others wrote, if you’d combine the beauty of the amazing handwriting app Notability with the wisdom of philosophy of stoic. that would be a great combo.
Maybe one day, this will get the attention it deserves.
In the meantime, if the stoic devs and testers would more often use their app on an iPad, with different window sizes, with keyboard soft and hardware… that could be very helpful.

Totally agree - furthermore Apple has brought this feature to their native journal app on iPad which is making it more attractive. I do love Stoic but the highest voted features like this one and PDF export are getting very limited attention.
I would appreciate if the handwriting is added, there will be lines for writing too. It’s hard to write on blind page.
I love my old hand-written journals. I’ve come close to canceling my subscription a few time because of the lack of that feature, but the prompts and AI feedback are too good to switch to another app. Please add this feature!
im on the free trial right now and would absolutely buy the year of premium if there were better hand writing support. likely going to cancel and find something else.
