Keep my handwriting in journals ✍️#17

Hi, I wanted to tell you that I love your app. It is so beautiful, love the add ins like reminders, prompts and breathing. I couldn’t wait to buy the premium version but I want to keep my handwriting. Can you make an option to Journal with our own handwriting and choose to not have it switch to typed words.

Idk if it’s what Virginia wants said, but I really would want a better handwriting support. The benefits of handwriting over typing on keyboards do not have to be demonstrated anymore. So should be fine to have the possibility to handwriting our daily diary but not considered as screenshots ✍️

I wanted to ask exactly for this feature, too! With Apple Pencil on the iPad it would be so cool to just write down everything like in a proper paper journal. And not use just screenshots. When are you planning this?

I was really excited about this app but not being able to actually journal, write things down with my iPad and pencil is a deal breaker for me. Stoics of anyone know the power of handwriting. The slowness of it forces you to think deeply.

Yes. this would be great. I’d like to add to this with an ability to import PDF files. I’ve been using the prompts and going to GoodNotes to handwrite in a custom journal page, then exporting an image and importimg itbin Stoic as a picture. But, it’d be far better to have that as a PDF so I could preview and read it back better.

Or, even being able to import a pdf to markup would be equally as amazing, so it counts as my Words Written.

Ready to subscribe once pencil writing is an option! Dealbreaker before that unfortunately. Hope this will be added soon!

Oh that would be long long wish come true for me, too. The handwriting with the Apple Pencil on iPad is very important for me, too. I use either Apple Scribble (which is a little painful at times when the handwriting isn’t very clear that day) and it feels robotic. But the drawing feature has no lines, squares, or dotted guidance background. And of course, how to count the words? I think iPad OS is “OCR”ing all handwritten content in notes in the background for search. Maybe you can get number of words from there. So it’s also searchable.
For the Devs, have a look at Notability for inspiration for that feature.

i also hope that this feature will soon be implemented. just feels more naturl to write instead of typing.

I’m so glad that more people want this and that it is a planned feature. I’ve been nagging the Stoic team since a couple of years about this. :) Please, please prioritise it. Handwriting, like in the Notability App, with lines, squares, dotted lines to write on as guides. And maybe you can manage to use the handwriting to text feature recognition to keep both, handwriting and searchable text. That way you can also count the number of words written. Please? (dog’s eyes begging)
